Bas Rutten’s Pro Wrestling Matches

Bas Rutten only had a handful of pro wrestling matches, but I’m convinced he could have been a star in Japan. His BattlArts match with Carl Greco (shootstyle worker/MMA fighter) is one my favorite matches of 2001. To those unfamiliar with Greco, you probably saw him in the early days of PRIDE. But he’s at his best in the shoostyle realm; his most recent match with Yuki Ishikawa was a MOTYC.

Rutten also worked a 30 minute European Rules contest with Osamu Nishimura. I had a great time watching this match. Rutten displayed some good selling in this performance.

Here’s another one of his pro wrestling matches. With the exception of an awkward shinning wizard — the trendy move of the early aughts — I think Rutten looked solid.
