Yes, the same guy who got his ear bite off by Tyson in the 90’s. Holyfield just wants to prove that he can still go- “…look at Bernard Hopkins” says Holyfield. Hopkins is 46-years-old and is the Ring Magazine and WBC light heavyweight champion. Forget about B-Hops last fight because that fight doesn’t really speak to the special type of boxer B-Hop is. The fight came to a sudden end in the 2nd Round after Chad Dawson threw Hopkins on the canvas. Originally the decision was to count as a TKO lost against Hopkins since he was unable to continue after he was thrown. The decision has been overturned to a no contest. Now forget that fight even happened.
Bernard Hopkins is a one of a kind boxer, his thrive for excellence and his ability to say no to vices that other people partake in is just a small testament on his unbreakable discipline. That’s why he can do push ups at the start of the 7th round like this and be the oldest fighter to capture 12 pounds of gold. Google it if you want to fact check me. Hell, I’ll do it for you.
Now here comes Evander Holyfield who first started fighting in 1984 wanting a chance at the same achievement that Hopkins achieved. The 49-year-old insists that he will continue to fight until he captures a title again.Good thing the world is suppose to end this year then. Holyfield says he still training and would like a shot at either of the Klitschko brothers. His last fight came in July 2011 by way of Denmark so he technically can still fight but does anybody really give the man a chance? The bigger question is would anybody pay to see that fight? That would be the only way I see either Klitschko stepping in the ring with Holyfield.
(Bonus Picture) The intro page to the Klitschko website. Isn’t it grand? This really puts me in the mood to buy a tailor suit, smoke a cigar and lease luxury vehicle.
