WBA Light-Flyweight Championship (108 lbs) – Kazuto Ioka vs Jose Alfredo Rodriguez

Here is a high pace light-flyweight (108 lbs) battle from December 31st, 2012. Kazuto Ioka took on Jose Alfredo Rodriguez for the vacant WBA light-flyweight championship. Check out that beautiful uppercut, right hook to the body, right hook to the head combination that Ioka uses to score his first knockdown in the fight. Rodriguez survived, did enough to have some competitive moments, swinging with power. But it was Ioka who was landing at a higher volume and with sharper efficiency. In the sixth frame, Ioka sent the Mexican pugilist down to the mat two more times. The combination that scored the TKO win for Ioka was an uppercut and straight right.

Kazuto Ioka had moved up from strawweight (105 lbs) for this light-flyweight championship fight. At strawweight he held both the WBC and WBA world titles. He vacated both those titles before this New Years Eve fight. With this win, he is now 11-0 and I look forward to seeing what he accomplishes in 2013.
