Bellator 65 Thoughts

  • Eduardo Dantas dominated Zach Makovsky in a way that I did not anticipate. I was expecting a close tight five round battle. Dantas’ striking was at a much higher level, and so was his grappling. Makovsky is no joke on the ground, he is really great on the ground and Dantas went through him like a hot knife through better. Total domination, great arm triangle to seal the deal. Dantas is a legit top ten bantamweight, he may one day be the best bantamweight.
  • Daniel Straus did a good job with Mike Corey, got the win the way he usually does, by decision. Solid fight, a few nice moments.
  • Nogueira vs Vila was a huge¬†disappointment. Vila came into Bellator on such a hot moment, by knocking out Joe Warren in brutal fashion. Since then he hasn’t been able to deliver on the potential I had hoped. Vila fights kinda weird, like he just sort of improvises in there with no thought or strategy. Nogueira was the much superior fighter.
  • Really liked Galvao-West, thought it was great. Galvao outgrappled and outstriked him for a good portion of the fight. West has a geeky style that makes fights seem even more fun. Galvao has grown into being such a good fighter, he should have a much better record than he does (too bad he got screwed against Joe Warren and Alexis Vila). Happy for Galvao.
