STFC News

STFC 34 just concluded and the promotion wasted no time in announcing the upcoming fights for STFC 35 on June 12 at the Mcallen Convention Center. The co-main event of the show will be Sam Guardiola(4-2) vs Andoni Rodriguez. Another confirmed fighter for the show is Guilherme Farias Da Costa(2-0) who is coming off an awesome calf slicer submission. These two announced fights were enough to get fans excited about the upcoming show but then bookerman, Raul Ramos, announced two more fights that are guaranteed to sell out the Mcallen Convention Center.

zThe first of the two fights announced was Saul “El Mero Mero” Elizondo(6-5) locking up with Ricardo “El Gallero” Palacios. This will be Palacios’ first time in an STFC cage but he is no stranger to fighting. He is currently an undefeated professional boxer(2-0-1) as well as a professional MMA fighter(2-1). Both fighters are coming off loses and a win here could help either man climb the ranks. This bantamweight clash of Roma versus Mission is going to create a wild atmosphere and it’s one you probably don’t want to miss.

The last announcement by Ramos is Fabian Saldivar(6-1) will be making his second Featherweight title defense against San Benito native Josh Montalvo(3-2). Montalvo’s was victorious in his last fight against Saldivar’s Cinco teammate, Amador Ramirez at STFC 31. Montalvo originally pleaded to STFC to get him a fight with Bustillos but STFC did him one better and put him in title fight against Saldivar. It never hurts to ask. “The Pride of Santa Rosa” has made it look easy his past few fights against tough fighters such as Sonny Luque, Javier Obregon and most recently Eduardo Bustillos. Montalvo’s access to top tier training partners could be a factor in this title bout but Ramirez’s experience with Montalvo could aid Saldivar.

HERO FC News

Not to be outdone, HERO FC has announced that their next show, Best of the Best V, will be a week before STFC 35 on June 6 and will feature nine fights. Three of those fights will be for the title and the remaining portion of the $50,000 contract. One of the valleys favorite, DJ Fuentes, will be defending his bantamweight title and his contract against the same fighter who took his STFC featherweight title by split decision in 2013, Javier Obregon. It seems as Fuentes is not only fighting for his title and contract but to prove he should have remained champion that night.

Also announced for the event is Hayward Charles defending his Middleweight title against Edgar Verdin and Rey Trujillo defending his Featherweight title against Dimitre Ivy. Both Charles and Trujillo will be making their first title defenses since capturing the titles this past January. The Lightweight Championship and the $50,000 contract will also be given out at “BoTB V” as Los Fresnos’ Ray Banda(4-0) will clash against San Antonio’s Alex Hernandez(5-1). Both fighters are deserving of being called champion but unfortunately there can only be one. These two fighters are both high caliber and will surely give a FOTN performance in a fight that can’t be missed. Danny Salinas(14-7) will also be making his HERO FC debut against Houston’s Justin Reiswerg(9-4) after being defeated by Adkins at STFC 34.

In addition to the title bouts and the debut of Danny Salinas, fans will also be treated to the “Bad Boys of the RGV”, Gilbert Urbina(3-0) and Eli Urbina (2-0). The brothers have been making a lot of noise in the valley since they stepped on the scene which has made for some entertaining moments. Also scheduled to fight on the card is Michael Saucedo, Nick Bella, Santiago Cobos and Guillermo Gonzalez.
