Is it too late for a recap? No. Good, I knew you readers were good people.
It’s been a minute but STFC 40 was such a great show and I’m ashamed that it’s taken so long to get this post up. The main event saw Guardiola dominate Andoni Rodriguez for all three rounds and even made the Spainard confused on what to do. There were a few times that Rodriguez looked into his corner for help when he didn’t have an answer for Guardiola’s attack. There is no doubt that this rivalry can finally be over as Guardiola proved he is indeed the superior fighter. Speaking of “The Bull”, he looked fantastic! He looked more polish on his standup and his attack looked more vicious. Guardiola is now riding a seven fight winning streak and has quietly become one of the most dominant fighters currently fighting for STFC. A title shot has to be in the works for the Pharr native and if Combate Americas, UFC or Bellator is not paying attention to Guardiola, then they need to hire a new talent scout.
In the co-main event of the evening, another rematch was decided when Finney delivered multiple knee shots to Jones’ head in the second round of this contest at the 1:07 mark. From the get go it seemed like Jones was just not on the level of Finney.
Abram Torres just needed :25 to body Daniel Cervantes from Laredo. My earlier preview had pointed out that Torres was a great striker but still had not gotten a TKO victory in his professional career. Well, that is no longer the case. See the video below. Time will tell if we see Torres back in but his performance does warrant another showcase fight and we can’t wait to see who he goes against. We just hope it doesn’t get scratched from the card.
